License

Journal EPiC supports the dissemination and responsible reuse of scholarly knowledge. This policy explains copyright ownership, publication rights, and the conditions governing the sharing and adaptation of published articles.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain copyright in their articles and grant EPiC a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and archive their work. The journal shall be acknowledged as the venue of first publication. Copyright ownership is not transferred to the journal or its publisher.

2. Creative Commons License

Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license

Articles published under this policy are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0) , unless otherwise indicated in an article or a specific credit line.

This license permits readers to copy and redistribute the licensed material in any medium or format and to remix, transform, and build upon it for any purpose, including commercial purposes, subject to the conditions stated below.

3. Conditions of Reuse

  • Attribution: Users must give appropriate credit to the authors, retain supplied attribution and rights notices, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether changes have been made. Attribution must not suggest that the authors or the journal endorse the user or the use of the material.
  • ShareAlike: If users remix, transform, or build upon the licensed material, they must distribute their contributions under CC BY-SA 4.0 or a compatible license recognized by Creative Commons.
  • No additional restrictions: Users must not impose legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from exercising the rights permitted by the license.

4. Author Sharing and Repository Deposit

Authors may share the published version of their articles through institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, and other platforms in accordance with CC BY-SA 4.0.

Shared copies should retain the copyright and license notices, acknowledge the original publication in EPiC, and include the article’s bibliographic details and DOI or article URL, where available.

5. Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce third-party material when required. Material not covered by the article’s license must be clearly identified through an appropriate credit line or separate rights notice.

The CC BY-SA 4.0 license does not automatically apply to third-party content excluded from the license. Users may need to obtain separate permission from the relevant rights holder before reusing such material.

6. License Limitations and Continuity

The license does not necessarily provide all permissions required for a particular use. Privacy, publicity, moral rights, and other applicable rights may affect reuse. No warranties are provided under the license.

Users do not need to comply with the license for elements in the public domain or where their use is permitted by an applicable legal exception or limitation.

The freedoms granted under CC BY-SA 4.0 cannot be revoked as long as users comply with its terms. Changes to the journal’s future licensing policy do not revoke permissions already granted for content published under this license.

7. Article Copyright and License Notice

Each article published under this policy should identify the copyright holder and publication year and display the following license statement:

This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0) .
